Lloyd Alton Wilkerson, a former resident of Corsicana, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Grand Prairie Health Care Center in Grand Prairie after a short battle with cancer. Mr. Wilkerson was born Aug. 29, 1953 in Chattanooga, Tenn., the only son of Pete and Pauline (Bailey) Wilkerson. As a pre-schooler, he moved to Corsicana when his father was transferred to the local Chattanooga Glass plant.
Lloyd grew up in Corsicana and Mildred and attended Mildred High School. He later worked at Hilltop Feed and Seed Company in Corsicana and was a valued employee there in 1980 at the time he was involved in a tragic automobile accident that left him permanently disabled.
He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Christine Bancroft.
Mr. Wilkerson is survived by two daughters; Annette Sandhu of Humble, and Bryanna Murray of Corpus Christi. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Wesley Neal, Clayton Neal, Seth Derden, Tarragon Wilkerson, and Jessica Murray. Other survivors include four sisters; Linda Quinn of Grand Prairie; Doris Vaughan of Corsicana; Barbara Jones and Catherine Thorton, both of Columbus, GA.; two special nieces, Karla Glenn and Donna Quinn and a special great-niece, Kylie Glenn, all of Grand Prairie and other extended family members.
The body was cremated and his ashes will be interred beside his mother at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery in Retreat. Guerrero-Dean Funeral Home in Grand Prairie was in charge of arrangements. A private burial for immediate family members will be held at a later date.
