She graduated from Richland High School in 1933 and then attended Tyler Commercial College. She married the love of her life, Melvin Traweek on Dec. 19, 1936; they were married for 65 wonderful years. They were blessed with four children: Linda Jane, Melvin Larry, Jimma Lanelle, and Lonny Gregory. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Richland, where she taught Sunday school for 50 years and was involved in all activities in the church. She participated in Bible School, Girls Auxiliary, the Women’s Missionary Union, and was the song leader. She also organized many activities for the youth in Richland and made a lasting impact in many lives.
She was president of the Richland Cemetery Association, election judge, a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was secretary, cashier, and credit manager for 16 years at the Big Four Shoe store in Corsicana. She had an active lifestyle and enjoyed painting, quilting, jazzercise, and genealogy. Spending time with children and with her family brought her much joy. She worked her entire 97 years in preparation to meet her Lord.
