Tommy R. Watkins, 85, passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at Country Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Corsicana.
He was born Aug. 30, 1927, to John William Watkins and Minnie Lou Huffstutler Watkins in Corsicana.
He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 20 years of service. He and his wife, Edith, attended First Baptist Church in Corsicana. He was very proud of the years he spent operating heavy equipment. He could often be found working on the family farm in Black Hills in his younger years, and in his later years in his garden that surrounded his home in Corsicana. He loved being out with nature and spending time with is his best (four legged) friend, “Pepper.” Most of all he loved spending time with his family and pets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
Survivors include his son, Steve Watkins and wife Carol of Corsicana; his daughter, Rebecca Kragh and husband Mark of Katie; and granddaughter, Brittany Kragh of Katie.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Corley Funeral Home.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elvin Sikes officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
