Anita Jeffrey, 85, of Baytown passed away Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013. Anita was born Oct. 1, 1927 in Pursley to Alvie and Rhoda Freeze. She was the youngest of five children raised on the Freeze farm; this led her to be quite the tom boy. Anita’s favorite hobby was gardening and she was a member of the Dirt Gardeners Garden Club. She was a long time member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. She also enjoyed travel. She was truly the matriarch of the family, especially after her first husband passed away. Anita loved her family dearly, and they adored her. She will be truly missed.
Anita is preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Richard Matthews and Grady Jeffrey; her sister, Nola Jones; her brothers, Levie, Oliver and Leonard Freeze; great granddaughter, Kayli Matthews; and two nieces.
