— Mrs. Eula Faye Norwood, 87, wife of E.C. “Clay” Norwood, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana.

She was born to L.P. and Eula Reid Threet in Tupelo on January 5, 1927.

She was a graduate of Navarro College summa cum laude with an Associate Business Degree, and obtained Certified Professional Secretary status in 1964. She and Clay were married on May 31, 1964. Shortly thereafter they bought Superior Ice and Foods and discontinued that business and started Corsicana Overhead Door and Corsicana Answering Service at the same location. She was a charter member of the Corsicana Chapter International Secretaries Association, I00F Rebekah Lodge #128, and was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church; she was currently a member of Second Avenue Baptist Church. She had served as Sunday School Teacher, church clerk, church reporter, treasurer, youth director, and visitation chairperson in various churches over the years. She was Baptist through the years, and had a great love for Southern Gospel music and sang with various groups at nursing homes over the years. She and her husband also sang duets in church and in nursing homes during their married life. She was receptionist and later office manager for C.L. (Buster) Brown and his father for over 28 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, L.P. and Eula (Sis) Threet; sister, Pauline French Stuard; grandparents, J.B. and Ada Jane Miller Reid, and C.H. and Virginia Smotherman Threet; uncles, Walker Threet and Brove Reid; aunts, Mamie Drain, Gertrude Combs, Callie Barnes and Dool Fitzgerald; numerous cousins and other relatives.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, E.C. “Clay” Norwood; sons, Sam Norwood and wife Sabrina of Questa, N.M., and John Paul Norwood and fiancé Laura Houghton of Palestine; grandsons, Tyler Norwood and wife Alana, and Daniel Norwood of Albuquerque, N.M.; granddaughters, Samantha Norwood of Albuquerque, N.M. and Sabra Burnett and husband Josh of Fort Hood; sisters, Frances Walker of Fort Collins, Colo. and Cherry Layfield of Waxahachie; and good friend, Linda Fannin of Corsicana.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, the Rev. Thomas Layfield officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Ron Morrison, Wayne Owen, Steve Worsham, Tim Rozelle, James Ledbetter and C.L. “Buster” Brown.
