Roslyn Daiches Rosen

Roslyn Daiches Rosen died peacefully at home, accompanied by her loving family, on Friday, June 27, 2014. Born in Corsicana, Texas in 1924, Roslyn (“RaRa” to her grandchildren) was the only child of the late Dr. and Mrs. Sam Daiches. She attended UT Austin and SMU, majoring in Business Administration. She met her husband, Maurice R. Rosen, after he returned from World War II and together they raised two sons, Stan and Bob, who were their pride and joy.

The family business, Daiches Jewelers, was a fixture in downtown Corsicana from 1918 until 1977. After the death of her beloved Maurice, she moved to Dallas to be closer to her family. Roslyn cherished her childhood friends and maintained a close connection with them. She regularly attended her grandchildren’s school events, birthday parties, and sporting events, both in Dallas and Los Angeles. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, Mahjong, and Skip-Bo, as well as attending movies, concerts, and plays. Roslyn played the piano, stayed current on world events, and remained connected to her friends and grandchildren, often through Facebook.

Her love and commitment to Temple Beth-El in Corsicana and Temple Emanu-El in Dallas were everlasting. In the weeks prior to her death, she attended her granddaughter’s wedding where she not only danced, but also delivered a beautiful impromptu speech. Guests commented that they wanted to “be like RaRa” when they grew up.

Roslyn is survived by her sons, Stanley G. Rosen and Robert K. Rosen, daughters-in-law Anne Rosen and Sally Rosen, and grandchildren Matthew Rosen, Benjamin Rosen, Rebecca Rosen, Marcus Rosen, David Rosen, Betsy Rosen, Allison and Barrett Lidji, Mary and Jake Rohe, Katie and John Infantino, and Shelby and Sam Infantino; nieces and nephews including Andrea and Harlan Davis, Sam Utay and her son, Hank, Joe and Carol Utay, Karen Utay, and many other nieces and nephews from around the globe. Friends and family alike will dearly miss Roslyn “Ra Ra.”

A Memorial Service will be held at 5 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Temple Emanu-El in Linz Hall, 8500 Hillcrest Ave., Dallas, TX 72225.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Katherine F. Baum Adult Education Fund at Temple Emanu-El Dallas, or to the charity of your choice.  Online condolences may be made at www.Sparkman-Hillcrest .com.
