Betty Jeanne Kent Cleere was resting comfortably in her home with her family in Corsicana when she passed away and went to be with her Lord on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at age 94.
Born in Stillwater, Okla., Oct. 13, 1918, to John A. Kent and Eva Jones Kent, Betty grew up in Marlow, Okla.
She had lived in Dallas with her loving husband, John W. Cleere, since 1958 where she had a successful business, Betty’s Fashions, for over 30 years. She was an active member of Cliff Temple Baptist Church for all those years. She was also involved in the American Business Women’s Association and was president of her chapter. She enjoyed travelling, reading, playing bridge and working crossword puzzles. She was also an enthusiastic fan of the Cowboys and the Rangers.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, John W. Cleere; son, Kent Spivey; her parents, Eva Jones Kent and John A. Kent; and her brother, J.W. Kent.
Betty loved nothing more than to be with her family. She is survived by her daughter, Sarita Coleman (Ron) of Wichita, Kan. and their two sons, Kris Coleman(Carmen) of Wichita Kan., and Kent Coleman (Rachel) of Concord, N.C. and their families; her daughter, Evalou Eeds (Mike) of Corsicana and their children Chad Eeds and Erika Eeds of Dallas, as well as five great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Corley’s Funeral Home, 418 N. 13th St., Corsicana.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Corsicana.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Cliff Temple Baptist Church, Dallas or First Baptist Church, Corsicana.
