Corsicana —

Mildred Lee Pritchett, a resident of Eureka for most of her 94 years, passed away at Heritage Oaks West Nursing Home on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 after an extended illness of Alzheimers.  Mrs. Pritchett was born in Groesbeck on June 29, 1918.  Her parents were Roy Ruben Renfro and Berttie Lee (Baygent) Renfro.  Mildred was the devoted wife of I.V.M. “Buster” Pritchett for almost 69 years until his death in 2004.

Mildred is survived by her twin sons, Dwayne Pritchett and wife Shirley of Corsicana, and Wayne Pritchett and wife Kathy of Belton; four daughters, Juanita French and husband John of Austin, Maxine Ingham and husband Gene of Corsicana, Betty Wilhoite of Sante Fe, Texas and Carol Keeling and husband Tommy of Plano; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Tiny Estes of Corsicana; brother, R.C. Renfro and wife Betty of Longview; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Being forever remembered for her kindness to everyone and devotion to her family, our mother took great pride in caring for her home and preparing wonderful meals for her family and guests. She was active in her work for the Eureka Cemetery Association for over 15 years and enjoyed doing what she could for the Eureka Methodist Church. Her chocolate pies were always a big hit at the Lord’s Acre.

Admired and remembered for her positive attitude, she set a fine example to everyone who knew her. She loved growing beautiful purple iris and colorful zinnias. She enjoyed sharing vegetables from their garden and fruit from their trees.  Mother also enjoyed sewing and quilting. But of all she did for everyone, nothing was more important than being companion and soul mate to her husband Buster. They started every morning at the breakfast table often discussing the weather, things going on in their little world of Eureka, and making plans.

Mrs. Pritchett was preceded in death by her never forgotten first-born son, Jimmy Glenn, who died at birth; two treasured grandsons, David Nichols and Gregory Wilhoite; her dear twin brother, Milton “Bud” Renfro; older brother, Algie Renfro, of whom she held special memories and spoke of daily to the very end; sister, Nellie Williamson; and two sons-in-law, Bobby Nichols and Bobby Wilhoite, whom she loved dearly.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 at Corley Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Wilhoite and Rev. James Williams officiating.  Burial will follow at Eureka Cemetery.  Pallbearers are John French, Jr., Mike Nichols, Daniel Wilhoite, Mark Wilhoite, Matthew Wilhoite and Cody Nichols.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Lyn Boyd, Jan Kelley, Michelle Pritchett, Hollie Sammons, Julie Pritchett, Amy Barham, Lorie Malone, Kenneth “Buddy” Pritchett, Charles H. Harris and Donald Estes.

The family of Mildred Pritchett extends our heart-felt gratitude to the staff at Heritage Oaks West for the excellent care given for over eight years, and a special thank you to Family First Hospice of Ennis for providing the dignity and comfort to end life’s journey gracefully.  Thanks to everyone who visited, sent cards, said prayers and had caring thoughts of our mother, and our appreciation to a family friend, Archbishop Francis Thorne-Coley for his daily prayers.

For those desiring, memorials may be made to The Eureka United Methodist Church at 8714 S. Hwy 287, Corsicana, TX 75109.
