Mr. Matilde Guerrero Ovalle, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born March 14, 1925 in Waco to Inez and Selso Ovalle.
M.G. served honorably in the United States Army. He served in World War II from March 8, 1945 until Nov. 27, 1946 and was stationed in Japan. He married Dorothy Virginia Ovalle on Feb. 8, 1948.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant daughter, Johnnie Ovalle. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; Daniel and Domingo Ovalle and his sister; Henrietta Aguado, and son-in-law Jerry Long.
Mr. Ovalle is survived by his wife, Dorothy Ovalle and his four daughters; Lela Gilmore and husband, Buddy, Virginia Reese and husband, Curtis, Julia Nelson and Tim Malone, and Mary Long. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. M.G. is also survived by his sister; Santana Ovalle and brothers; Bert Christian, Albert and Tom Ovalle.
Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home with the Rosary being recited at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass is schedule for 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Corsicana with Rev. Henry Drozd officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Durr, Daniel Gilmore, Donnie Trull, Scott Long, Timothy Nelson and Jeff Kelly.
