Perry Richter

Corsicana Daily Sun

— In the early morning hours of Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, beloved husband, father, and grandfather Perry Richter lost his battle with cancer. He passed away at his Navarro home of 41 years with his loving wife Becky, sons Ben, Jason, and Caleb along with his close brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Patrick and Veronica Dickerson at his side.

After graduating Mildred High School in 1977, he worked cleaning up railroad accidents and also drove a truck in the Navarro County oil fields. On May 15, 1981, he married Becky Martinez of Corsicana. After surviving a burn accident while working in the oil fields, he attended Navarro College and obtained an Associate Degree in nursing. In 1990, he started his own construction business, Richter’s Backhoe Service, specializing in installing septic systems, house pads, and landscaping. He loved working outdoors, which he did for 16 years. He returned to nursing in 2006, working at the Texas Youth Commission in Corsicana until his illness. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends. He lived in Navarro County for most of his life and considered it his one true home after moving around many times as a young kid. He made many, many friends during his lifetime. Everyone loved to hear his stories and jokes. He was always laughing and bringing joy to anyone near him. He always helped his friends and family in their time of need. He was an avid golfer and loved to fish. He especially loved fishing the coasts of Texas and Louisiana with his family and friends, especially Paul and Bryan Mitchell. Before his death, he and his close friends and family took one last trip to Venice, La., to catch those big Reds.

He was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Benjamin Richter and mother, Ollie Mae Schultz Richter.

He is survived by his wife, Becky Richter of Corsicana; daughter, Nichole Grisar and husband Todd of Garland; sons, Ben Richter and wife Andrea, Jason Richter and Caleb Richter of Corsicana; granddaughters, Aryn Richter and Audrey Richter of Corsicana, and Lilly Ella Grisar of Garland; grandson, Charlie Grisar of Garland; sisters, Sue Lewis and husband Larry of Woodward, OK, Lisa Cobb and husband Ray of Corsicana, Marsha Qualls and husband Jimmy of Winkler, and Patricia Moulder of Seagoville; brother, David Richter and wife Terrie of Mildred; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a big host of friends.

A rosary service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Lewis Palos officiating.
