E. A. “Boy” Toten, resident of Blooming Grove, passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013 at the age of 95. He was born Jan. 13, 1918 to Elmer Archie Toten and Cora Raley Toten.
Mr. Toten ran Johnny Johnson Tire Company in Fort Worth for 35 years and then later drove the school bus for Blooming Grove ISD for several years. He helped care for his step-son, Nickey Burleson, after his accident in 1973. He enjoyed collecting knives and gardening and was a member of Blooming Grove Church of Christ. He was a super roller-skater and loved to skate with his wife, Northea.
Mr. Toten is preceded in death by wife Northea Miles Toten; step-sons Kenneth Donald Burleson and Oscar Dean Burleson; grandchild Kenneth Donald Burleson Jr.; great-grandchild Buddy Lynn Burleson; sisters Virgie Priddy, Imogene Porter, and Carmel Ballew; and ex-wife Bonnie Mott.
Mr. Toten is survived by his daughter Sharon Larue Wilson of Fort Worth; son Robert Wesley Toten of Blooming Grove; step-sons Harold Dale Burleson and wife Geneva of Clear Lake, IA and Nickey Dwight Burleson of Clear Lake, IA; 11 grandchildren, Toni Johnson, Theresa Hoffma and husband Chris, Cassondra Jenkins, Brian Keith Burleson and wife Nickie, Kristi Brant and husband Dana, Calley Welch and husband Jesse, Samuel Burleson and wife Laura, Nikki Bahler and husband Logan, Randy Allen Toten, Ashley Nicole Toten, and Robert Wesley Toten Jr.; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, 2013 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 at Blooming Grove Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
