Mrs. Florene Purdue Armstrong, age 87, of Corsicana passed away at Country Meadows Nursing Home Tuesday, April 30, 2013. She was born April 1, 1926 in Lubbock to John and Lois Purdue.
Florene was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was married to her husband, Homer Lee Armstrong for 42 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, one grandson, one great-grandson, and five brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Ginn of Corsicana, Lois Marie DeRusha and Lexia May Armstrong of Rice, and son, Jackson Lee Armstrong of Corsicana. Mrs. Armstrong is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, 11 brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. One grandson, Michael Reznicek is on a mission in Brazil for the U. S. Air Force and will be unable to attend his grandmother’s services.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at Corley Funeral Home in Corsicana with Rev. Michael Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Rice Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Shumate, Sammy Shumate, Sr., Sammy Shumate, Jr., Jacob Jones, Charles Wampler, and Joshua Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Christopher and Michael Reznicek.
