Lucille Budai Brown

Lucille Budai Brown, 94, was born Sept. 4, 1919 and passed away peacefully with her daughter Linda by her side on Tuesday, April 29, 2014 in Flower Mound, Texas.

She was born in Caddo, Oklahoma to Hungarian immigrants, Dan and Annie Budai.  She was a twin and third oldest of nine children.  Dan and Annie eventually moved to a farm in Richland, Texas where she spent her youth.

Lucille married Oren Brown in 1944 and they remained married for 57 years until his death in 2001. Lucille retired from Texas Miller Hat Factory in Corsicana after many years of dedicated service. In 2002, she moved from Corsicana to Flower Mound to live with her youngest daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Nelson.

She will be remembered for her good cooking, especially “Sweet Crackers,” her loving personality, and generosity to her family. She enjoyed life, was very active, and had a sharp mind until the very end. She was known as “Mema” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was so loved by everyone.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband Oren Brown, their oldest daughter Scarlet Ann Brown, twin sister Vera Budai Murphy, sisters Rosa Offutt, Justina Cox, Christina Lane, and brothers Dan and Emory Budai.

Lucille is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Nelson of Flower Mound; granddaughters and grandson-in-laws, Laurie and Michael Reibenstein of Kansas City and Jamie and Chris Sanchez of New Boston; great-grandchildren, Cera Jaso, Amanda, Caleb, and Aaron Reibenstein, and Samuel, Jonah, and Rayden Sanchez. In addition, she is survived by two sisters, Ruth Boone and Ethel Rash of Corsicana; and many nieces and nephews and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at Corley Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Lewis Palos officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
