James Rheuben Ivie, 72, formerly of Corsicana, passed away July 27, 2010, at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, surrounded by his family.
James was born Jan. 11, 1938, in Purdon to Edna Lois Tadlock Ivie and Rheuben Levi Ivie. He attended Purdon schools and worked for almost 50 years as a truck driver. He retired from Groendyke Transport, Inc., in August 2000 after 21 years of service. He then worked for Rylie Transport in Corsicana until having to permanently retire due to health reasons.
Mr. Ivie is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ivie after 46 years of marriage in 2006; grandchild, Morgan James Ivie in 2008; parents, Rheuben L. Ivie and Edna Ivie French; stepfather, Joe French; brothers, Raymond Ivie, Curt Ivie, Elgin Ivie and Bonner French; sister, Lourene Moyers.
Survivors include his daughters, Jamie Kay Ivie of Waco, and Juli Elaine Ivie of Waco; son, James Rheuben Ivie II of El Mirage, Ariz.; sisters, Letha Nell Baxter of Fort Worth, Patricia Folmar and husband Thomas of Corsicana; brother, W.L. French and wife Betty of Dawson; a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 11a.m. Saturday, July 31, at Younger Cemetery with Bro. Bill Honea officiating.
