Dillard Earl Ellington, 85, of Corsicana, passed away at his residence on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013 with his family at his side.
He was born on Oct. 16, 1927, in Corsicana to Sidney Erroll Ellington and Hattie Ramsey Ellington.
Dillard graduated from Rice High School and served in the U.S. Army Engineers. He married Joan Burdine on Nov. 29, 1953, at the Tupelo Methodist Church. Dillard worked at United States Gypsum in Corsicana for 30 years and was the maintenance supervisor. He was an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Corsicana. Dillard loved his family and was a very loving husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Jack Ellington and Ed Ellington.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan of Corsicana; his daughters; Marianne Kreason and husband Tom of Richardson, and Susan Drum of Littleton, Colo. Dillard is also survived by his grandchildren, Becky Kinnibrugh and husband Kelly of Seymour, Kaplen Perez and Kalen Parez of Austin; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kelsey Kinnibrugh of Seymour.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday , Aug. 20, 2013, at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bo Loftis officiating and a “Special Message” from Brig. General Charles Bailey. Interment will follow at New Chatfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tom Kreason, Kaplen Perez, Kelly Kinnibrugh, Tyler Kinnibrugh, Pat Ellington and Pete Ellington.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Bradley and Cody Herod and the men of Wesley United Methodist Church.
