Suggested message:

“The purpose of the letter is to urge your careful consideration before voting on or approving any budget that does not include funding for operation of the Texas Juvenile Justice facility in Corsicana.  The services provided at this facility are for the benefit of the children in peril.  These children have either been led astray by bad influences or do not have the mental tools to cope with life at this time.  Any decision should be based on the programs and locations that can produce the best outcome for these young people.  Corsicana has shown for many years that the community cares about these children.  Numerous hours of volunteer time is dedicated every year to this effort.  This community has always been willing to give of ourselves and our time to make a difference.

Navarro College has been a strong partner since 2008.  The professionals at Navarro have developed a plan to re-purpose the facility to a transitional living facility.  It is a good sound fiscally responsible plan that would save the State of Texas money.   Corsicana is the best place to offer the program.

Consider the advantages for the children and make the right decision for them. There is a plan to save this program and give these children who have obviously had a rough start a chance at being productive citizens.  The State of Texas has an obligation to these children to give them the best chance possible at rehabilitation, not the cheapest.”
