July 4

Corsicana Rotary Freedom Festival and 2008 Duck Dash will be held from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at I.O.O.F. Park. The entire community is invited to come to this Fourth of July celebration. Bring your lawn chair and come for an evening of family fun. For more information, call Child Advocates at (903) 872-3772.



The 13th annual Kerens Old-Fashioned Fourth, sponsored by the Kerens Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held in downtown Kerens beginning at 6 p.m. Bring your decorated bike, trike, pet (on a leash), baby stroller, scooter, roller skates (use your imagination) and meet in front of the Kerens Chamber of Commerce for the parade. There will be a cake walk, train rides, horseshoe contest, washer pitching contest, bounce slide, cow plop bingo, raffles, live music, and lots more fun and games. Hot dog dinner will be $3, watermelon slices will be $1, and homemade ice cream will be $1. Fireworks will be at the baseball field after dark. July 9

American Legion Post 22, 632 N. Beaton St., has new events starting this month. Every Wednesday night there will be a Shuffleboard Tournament at 6 p.m., starting today. Every Friday night there will be Karaoke practice and DJ, starting at 7 p.m. Every Sunday there will be a domino tournament at 3 p.m., starting July 13, and snacks to purchase. July 11

July 12

The fourth annual Fur Ball will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight at the VFW Post 3366, 4609 W. State Highway 31, off Veterans Drive, hosted by the Navarro County Animals at Risk Foundation. Post will open at 2 p.m. The Ladies Auxiliary and Sons of American Legion also invited you to a hamburger steak dinner with all the trimmings from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost will be $7 per person.
