Woodmen of the World Lodge 5 will have a meeting and salad supper at Liberty Hall at 6 p.m. All members, their families and guests are cordially invited.

Kerens Masonic Lodge will move to the new lodge, the old city library, after putting a new roof on it. A stated meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served after lodge. All masons are invited to welcome the new lodge officers.

July 15-24
VOICE will offer the Texas Youth Tobacco Awareness Program, a state-approved program for minors charged with attempted purchase, consumption, or possession of tobacco and is designed to the mandates of Texas law. VOICE staff is certified to facilitate this program. The class will be an eight-hour program divided into four two-hour sessions. There will be a choice of morning or afternoon sessions — from 9 to 11 a.m. or from 3 to 5 p.m. July 15, 17, 22 and 24. Classes are $80 (cash only) for all sessions. Corsicana Public Library will have a program with “Creature Teacher,” who will present various animals, at 11 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to participate. For more information, call (903) 654-4810.

Workforce Solutions of North Central Texas will host a “Workforce Center Orientation” at 10 a.m. and a job search workshop on “Interview Tips” at 10 a.m. at its office, 720 N. July 19
The CHS Calico Dance Officers are holding a fund-raising golf tournament beginning at 9 a.m. at the Oak Trail Golf Course. The tournament will be a four person scramble. Entry fees are $260 per team. Lunch will be provided. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third places, longest drive and closest to the pin. Proceeds will help fund a trip for the Calicos to perform in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. For more information or to register contact Mike Taylor at (903) 872-7117.

A benefit for Bruce Holman will be held beginning at 5 p.m. at the Frost School gym. There will be a brisket dinner, an auction, and live music. Holman, a former resident of Frost and son of William and Linda Meskiman, was severely injured in an accident April 26. He will have many months of physical therapy. You are invited to come support Holman and his family. Also, a bank account has been established for donations at Community National Bank and Trust. Donations may be made to “Frost Volunteer Fire Department for Bruce Holman” at the Frost, Streetman and Fairfield bank locations, or at either of the two Corsicana locations.

The 110th Masonic District will have officer installation at 2 p.m. at the Corsicana Masonic Lodge. The Eastern Star ladies will serve refreshments after the ceremony. The public is invited.

The City of Dawson will have two dumpsters in town for disposal of trash and unwanted items. The collection units, reserved for use by City of Dawson residents only, will be located on Second Street in Farmersville and near the Dawson Volunteer Fire Department. No tires, paint or old batteries will be accepted.

The annual Prairie Point picnic will be held. Potluck dinner will be served at noon.

July 22

A benefit will be held for the Mike Bailey family from 6 to 9 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, 2800 N. Beaton St. The Bailey family has had numerous medical hardships recently. The benefit will be a gospel singing with the following performers: Farm Road 709, Glorybound, New Life, The Gospel Five, and Eternal River Band. Community Resource Council of the Corsicana Residential Treatment Center (Corsicana State Home) will have its seventh annual celebrity wait from 5 to 9 p.m. at Napoli’s, 111 E. Collin St. Tips received will go toward incentives for students at the CRTC. Funds raised can be used for graduation gifts, birthday cakes, small gifts, travel funds for family members, and various other things that the state does not pay for. You are invited to come support the resource council in this fund-raising endeavor.

Black Hills Cemetery Association will have its annual fund-raiser at Retreat Community Building, located on Farm-to-Market Road 709. The event will start at 1 p.m. there will be alight lunch served at a cost of $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 8. There will be a raffle for quilt, quartet singers, handmade crafts, homemade cakes, pies, canned jellies and pickles, and much more will be auctioned. Warehouse Living Arts Center’s Corsicana Children’s Company’s ninth annual theatre camp will be held. “Act and Seek” for kindergarten through second grade will meet from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at a cost of $55. “Imagination Station” for third through fifth grades will meet from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at a cost of $58.50. Students will need a sack lunch. “Innovative Imagineers” for sixth through eighth grades and from ninth to 12th grades will meet from 2 to 5 p.m. at a cost of $65. Cost for each class will include a T-shirt and a snack. Season-ticket holders and multiple family registrations will get a 10-percent discount.
