Preparations are nearly complete for the upcoming Corsicana/Navarro County Chamber of Commerce Banquet, set for 6 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Corsicana High School Commons.
Winter-themed decorations and dinner music provided by Dallas musician Pat Roache playing the harp will add to the evening’s annual gathering of the chamber’s membership and directors, according to chairwoman Connie Harrison.
In addition to the annual change of the guard from outgoing chamber chairman Dr. Richard Sanchez to Dr. Linda Timmerman, the 2007 chamber president, a number of awards will be presented to community members and businesses.
Chamber Executive Director Paul Hooper said that in addition to remarks from both Sanchez and Timmerman, he will also make some comments about the previous year and looking ahead to the 2007 chamber lineup, which will also include several new members of the board of directors approved at the chamber’s December meeting.
“Our guest speaker for the banquet this year is former state representative Steve Wolens,” Hooper said.
Wolens hails from Corsicana, and is speaking to the chamber gathering at no charge, according to Hooper. He will be joined by his wife, Dallas Mayor Laura Miller, who is also expected to make some comments at the banquet.
Hooper said that table sponsorship and individual banquet tickets are still available. Sponsorship of a table is priced at $260 and includes eight tickets. Individual banquet tickets are available at $35 each. Both may be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce office, Hooper said.
Navarro Regional Hospital is the main sponsor for the 2007 banquet. The hospital will be represented on the program by new administrator Fred Wooley.
