Rice's Bulldogs beat Kemp 52-25 on New Year's Eve to win the Rice New Year's Invitational this week.
Rice split two pool games on Monday, beating Avalon 68-52 and losing to La Vista 56-52. But the Bulldogs won twice on Tuesday with lopsided victories. They beat Avalon 68-52 and then beat Kemp for the title.
Sim Nezar led the Bulldogs with 11 points in the title game while Austin Peppers and Colin Haston followed with nine points each. Dylynn Anderson scored eight and Daniel Arteaga added seven points, Nik Costlow scored four and Jamie Metcalfe scored two points.
Nezar dropped in 20 points and Haston scored 19 against Avalon. Arteaga followed with 11 and Raven Huffman scored seven points. Conner Roberts (6), Costlow (3) and Anderson (2) also scored.
Nezar (19), Arteaga (14) and Huffman (13) led the Bulldogs in the loss to La Vista on Monday. Peppers (4) and Metcalfe (2) also scored.
Rice opened pool play with a 62-23 win over Covington on Monday. Nezar (18) and Arteaga (16) combined for 34 points, Huffman scored nine and Peppers dropped in seven. Anderson (4), Haston (4) Costlow (2) and Adan Payne (2) also scored.
Rice is now 14-4 for the season and returns to District 23-2A play Friday at Blooming Grove.
Rice beat Blooming Grove by one-point in the Frost Tournament earlier when Anderson had a tip-in at the buzzer.
