Erica Melendez scored six points and 13 points as the Lady Tigers lost to No. 23 West Mesquite in the 15-4A opener on Tuesday night, 65-35.
Mariah Farmer led Corsicana with eight points. The Lady Tigers (5-2, 0-1) were able to pull within 20 points after falling behind early.
“We faced a really good team tonight,” Lady Tigers coach Art Prevost said. “There is a reason they made it to the regional finals last year. They didn’t miss a beat. I was super proud of our effort, we came out the first couple of minutes with great intensity, we struggled with their pressure and it was plenty of that.”
Mildred 54, Palmer 32: The Mildred Lady Eagles (6-0) remained undefeated with a 54-32 win over the Palmer Lady Bulldogs.
Shelby Adamson scored 14 points for the Lady Eagles. Olivia Farmer also scored 14 to go along with 5 steals and 5 assists. Ashley Bonner chipped in 11 and had 11 rebounds.
Mildred played solid defense all four quarters and had 16 steals on the night.
Dawson 36, Blooming Grove 31: Brittany Coleman scored nine points and Kaylee Martinez added seven as Dawson (4-1) defeated Blooming Grove, 36-31.
North Forney 56, Tigers 51: Paul Ballard had 13 points and Ernest McGee had nine in the Tigers’ 56-51 loss to North Forney on Tuesday night in the Kaufman Classic.
The Tigers (0-3) trailed 26-22 at halftime.
Sunnyvale 48, Kerens 35: Tobyus Thomas scored 13 points, but Kerens (2-1) lost for the first time at Sunnyvale, 48-35.
