Chatman brings home bronze medal in triple jump

Hubbard’s Josh Chatman bought a bronze medal back home with him as the senior finished third in the triple jump at the UIL State Track and Field Championships at Meyers Stadium in Austin Saturday.

Chatman had a distance of 45 feet, 7 inches in the event and jumped an inch further than the fourth place finisher.

Meridian’s Torrence Allen won the event with a jump of 46-11.

Kerens’ 400 meter relay team of Pat Faulk, Aaron Gooden, Justyn Brooks and Terrance Sayles, finished fourth in the event with a time of 43.03 seconds.

The Bobcats finished sixth in the 800 relay with a time of 1:30.86.

Arp won the Class 2A 400 relay with a time of 41.81 while Hempstead won the 800 relay with a time of 1:28.46.
