Field of dreams: Renovations underway at Price Field

The grass will be a little greener and the field will be a little more flat next spring when the Tigers begin baseball season.

That’s because of a renovation project now underway at Price Field.

The Corsicana ISD is fixing the surface at Price Field and planting new grass in the outfield and infield.

Tigers baseball coach Billy Harlan said the project has been in the works for some time.

“This is the vision from coach (Don) Denbow and Jerry Ashcraft," Harlan said. “It is something that has been needed for a long time. It’s outstanding.”

The project includes leveling and resodding the field, planing new grass in the outfield, infield and along the base lines and raising the third base dugout three feet.

Price Field took a beating this year from the weather.

In the Tigers final home game this spring, Harlan and his players spent hours trying to move standing water in the outfield.

Even after the work, water still stood in several places in the outfield and near both dugouts.

Harlan said the project will continue for the next three weeks.

“I was told there would be two weeks of earth moving and on the third week they will replant the grass in the outfield and around the infield.”
