Frost falls to Itasca, 26-20

The Difference: With Frost facing 4th and 10 at the Itasca 22-yard line and 40 seconds to play, Wampus Cat DE Robert Duby crashed through the Polar Bears’ line and sacked QB Ty Ritterbach.



Standouts: Itasca RB Desmond Guy ran for 212 yards on 19 carries including the go-ahead score with a 65-yard touchdown run.



Game Notes: Starting the 4thquarter, the Polar Bears were down 18-7 and without two senior starters who had been injured in the game. Yet behind the running attack of senior RB Christian De Jean’s 74-yards and two touchdowns in the quarter, the Bears held the lead with 6:09 to play … DB Travis Cassady suffered a broken right forearm with 4:29 in the 2ndquarter. He and Travis Ritterbach broke-up a Greg Mason 4thdown pass. Ritterbach later in the quarter intercepted Mason to secure the Polar Bears’ 7-6 halftime lead … RB Johnathan Hopkins sprained his knee on Itasca’s opening drive of the 3rd quarter … The first of De Jean’s two 4th quarter touchdowns was 5-yard run that capped-off a 13-play, 68-yard drive that ate 6:31 off the clock … On next play, Ritterbach recovered Desmond Guy’s fumble at the Itasca 47-yard line. Then the Bears struck quickly on only four plays to take the lead. De Jean scored on a 5-yard run after ripping off 37-yards on a draw play… Before Frost fans had stopped cheering, Itasca struck on their first play from scrimmage with Guy racing 65-yards down the sideline for the clinching touchdown …Frost tried to rally using a 13-play drive that started at their own 48-yard line. The Bears converted two 4th downs, but were unable to convert their last 4th down possession.



State of the game: The game featured four backs that ran for over 100 yards. Guy led the way with 212 yards, Frost’s Christian De Jean had 140 yards, Frost’s Danial Steels gained 107 yards, and Itasca’s Greg Mason ran for 106-yards.



They said it: Frost Coach Clark Moore said, “I am proud of our players. We really improved game by game. I wish we had more Friday night games to play. I am very proud of our seniors. They made some great memories this year.”
