The Corsicana Tigers traveled to Jacksonville to the second round of District 16-4A play and came away with an 8-1 win to improve to 5-2 in the district race.
Sidney Kirk belted a solo homer over the right field fence to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the third. Ashley Spence led off the fourth with a single and starting pitcher Chelsea Vandiver, who went the distance to get the win, singled to put runners at the corners for Jourdan Bruce, who came through with an RBI single. Skylar Kirk’s hit scored Vandiver to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead.
Mckala Goodwin led off with fifth with a double and Carly Cates doubled home Goodwin to make it 4-0. Katy Andrews singled to right center, scoring Cates giving the Tigers a 5-1 lead. Sidney Kirk lead off the sixth with a shot to the shortstop. Leeah Seth doubled and Andrews brought home Kirk with another double. Spence drove in Seth with a sacrifice fly to deep center. The Tigers scored one more in the top of the seventh with Skylar Kirk getting walked and Goodwin singling to score Kirk. The Tigers had 13 hits and made just one error.
Corsicana was led at the plate by Cates (3-5, double, RBI), Spence (2-4, RBI), Bruce (1-3, 2 walks, RBI), Sidney Kirk (1-4, HR, 1 walk), Mckala Goodwin (2-5, double) and Andrews (1-4, 2 RBI’s).

Jae Moore went the distance, giving up just two hits while striking out 10 to improve to 9-0 for the season.

Revill (1-3, HR, 3 RBI), Jennifer Andrews 1-2, 3 runs) and Kaycee Bowling (1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI’s). Frost is now 9-0 for the season and 5-0 in district play.
