RICE — Dalton Blake had a grand slam and also picked up the win on the mound as Blooming Grove topped Rice 26-4 on Monday night in Rice.

Blooming Grove improved to 4-0 in District 23-2A.

The Lions, already leading 2-0, exploded for seven runs in the top of the second for a 9-0 lead. Blake's grand slam highlighted the inning, a deep drive to left-center field for a 6-0 advantage.

The Lions had two other big innings, scoring nine runs in the fourth and seven runs in the fifth. Brody Owens and Travis Whiteside had two-run singles in the fourth.

Rice scored once in the bottom of the first on a RBI triple by Ragan Henderson to trim Blooming Grove's lead to 2-1.

But the Lions exploced for their big inning in the top of the second and never looked back.
