From Staff Reports
Brian Coffman, who turned the boys basketball program around at Wortham this year, has left the school to become the head boys basketball coach at Class 5A Livingston.
Coffman took a Wortham program that had gone 13-19 in 2013 and turned the Bulldogs into a district power in his only year at the school.
Wortham not only beat powerhouse Kerens, handing the Bobcats their first district loss in years, but the Bulldogs went 21-10 and marched to the area round of the playoffs.
Coffman was named the District 19-1A DI Coach of the Year.
Coffman coached at Italy for one year and at Hubbard for three years before coming to Wortham and took his teams to the playoffs every year. His five-year record with Italy, Hubbard and Wortham was 99-43.
