GC Softball/Baseball: Roundup

Corsicana — Wortham swept a pair of games in the Mildred Softball Tournament on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs beat Eustace, 17-9, and downed the Waxahachie JV team 13-8.

Larissa Rivera (4-3) won both games on the mound. Kendle Rhodes  (4-4, 3 R, 2 RBI),  Brooke Salisbury 2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI), Elisha Libhart (1-4, 2 R, 4 RBIs), Allison Nix  (1-3, 3 R),  Erin Ray ( 3-4, 3 R, 4 RBIs),                Rivera (2-4, 1 R, 1 RBI), Sara Sessions (1-3, 1 R), Alyvia Calame  (2-2, 1 R) and Kate Vogel  (2-3, 2 R) led the way at the plate.

Libhart went 3-4, hit three homers and drove in six runs against Waxahachie. Rhodes (1-3, 4 R, 1 RBI),   Brooke Salisbury  (1 R, 1 RBI), Nix  (1-2, 2 R) and Rivera  (2-3, 1 R, 2 RBIs) also had big days at the plate to help Wortham improve to 7-3-1.

                     

Baseball

Rice wins and loses


Rice split a pair of games on Thursday, beating Meridian 12-1 and losing to Mexia 13-1.

Jamie Metcalfe (2-2), Cole Metcalfe (2-2) and Max Mena (1-1) led the way in the win over Meridian and Mena (1-1) picked up the win as he did not allow a run and struck out three.

Garrett Weaver (1-2) and Adan Payne (1-2) had hits in the loss. Weaver went nine innings and took the loss on the mound.



Hubbard sweeps

Hubbard’s Jaguar baseball team is off to a 3-0 start as they head into the Blooming Grove Tournament this weekend.

The Jags swept Itasca this week to open their season with 18-0 and 10-1 wins, and defeated Italy on Tuesday, 17-2, outscoring opponents 45-3 so far this season.
