Corsicana — Seventh-ranked Kerens kept on rolling, run-ruling Cross Roads, 12-2, in District 19-1A play Friday.
Brett Anderson moved to 5-0 on the season with a one-hitter. He also went 2 for 5 at the plate. Ian Salas added two hits for the Bobcats (12-2, 9-0 in 19-1A), and DJ Kamp, Kevin Townsell, Zach Duncan, Dylan Woods and Shelton Sayles all added hits.
Kerens led 2-0 after the first, but added five runs each in the third and sixth innings to salt the game away.
Frost 3, Itasca 2: On a chilly night in Frost, the Polar Bears felt right at home with a 3-2 win over Itasca.
Rob Worley pitched a solid six innings and controlled the game throughout. Two perfect innings to start the game put his team in a position to win. Aggressive base-running and timely hitting sealed the victory for Frost.
But the Wampus Cats of Itasca didn’t go down without a fight. A slow start put them in a hole, 3-0, but the game was far from over. G.B. Macias relieved starter Taylor Minyard in the second inning and showed great poise, notching three of his five strikeouts in the inning while the bases were loaded.
He also contributed on offense with a monster triple in the top of the sixth to put the Cats within one run of tying the ballgame.
