Navarro Soccer: Bulldogs stay at No. 1

Corsicana — Navarro’s women’s soccer team kept its No. 1 ranking in the NJCAA national poll this week, despite a tie with No. 4 Tyler last week.

Navarro also lost a muddy rain-soaked game to Paris, 3-2, on Monday but neither game had an affect on the poll.

The Bulldogs (12-3-1) took over the No. 1 spot in the poll last week and enter the postseason as the team to beat.

Rankings won’t mean much now that every team is playing in do-or-die games in the playoffs.

If Navarro beats Jacksonville in the opening round of the playoffs on Thursday the Bulldogs could face a rematch with Tyler, which is playing Paris in the opening round of the playoffs on Thursday in Tyler.

If Navarro wins Thursday, the second round game will be Sunday at Navarro, where the Bulldogs are unbeaten this season.
