Holden Grounds had an incredible senior season in the spring for the Tigers. He beat state-semifinalist Whitehouse once, and allowed an earned run and three hits in 14 innings against a team that ended up in Austin.
He was a first-team all-stater and the veteran leader for the Tigers, in addition to the offensive anchor and the club’s ace. The Navarro College-pledge was 11-1 on the hill — losing only to Whitehouse, 3-1 — with a 0.93 ERA and 109 strikeouts in 68.0 innings. He had a team-best .463 batting average with a home run, 15 doubles and 20 RBIs.
