CHS Football: Tigers begin spring practice

Corsicana — Corsicana football Coach Steve Hoffman stood on the field after watching the first day of spring football practice said it more than once.

“Night and Day,’’ he said. “The difference this year is like night and day.”

Hoffman, who was hired so late last spring that his team never had a spring, talked about new QB Keyshawn Kelly, a rising sophomore who is on the rise, tailback Tray Owens, who set a school record with a 467-yard game as a sophomore last year, and talked about how much more energy and how much stronger his team is this year.

“We’re much stronger and much more physical,’’ said Hoffman who returns six on each side of the ball. “We’ve had three months in the weight room and it shows.

“It’s nice to have an off-season. It’s hard when you don’t have one. These kids have a good grasp of what we are doing. I’m excited about this season.’’
