The Frost Lady Polar Bears, who have lost just once all year, marched on in the Class 1A softball playoffs by sweeping De Leon in the area round of the playoffs.
After winning the opener 16-0 on Thursday, Frost took care of business in Granbury Friday night with an 8-3 win to move on in the playoffs.
Jae Moore went the distance, giving up just three hits to improve to 16-1 and she also went 2 for 4 with a triple. Frost never trailed scoring two in the second and two in the third before De Leon (19-5) put up a three-spot in the third to make it close at 4-3.
But Frost hit the gas again, scoring two in the top of the fourth and two more in the seventh as Moore slammed the door on De Leon.
Jennifer Andrews led the way at the plate. She went 3 for 4 with a double and drove in two runs, and Kennah Kennedy went 2 for 3 and scored twice for the Lady Polar Bears, who are now 16-1 and meet Hubbard in the regional quarterfinals at a time and site to be determined..
Hubbard 15, Goldthwaith 3 (5 innings)
Hubbard completed a sweep over Goldthwaith Friday night with a 15-3 five-inning win to move on in the Class 1A playoffs.
The Lady Jags will play Frost in the regional quarterfinals at a time and site to be determined.
Olivia Curtis (20-3-1) went the distance, giving up one earned run on five hits. She struck out six and walked one. She also went 3 for 4 at the plate with a triple.
Kate Sauke went 3 for 4 with two triples and she drove in three runs, Amy Anz went 4 for 4 with two doubles and three RBI’s and Jamie Goodpastor went 2 for 4 for the Lady Jaguars.
New Waverly 5, Blooming Grove 4
Blooming Grove lost to New Waverly Friday night in the Class 2A bi-district round of the playoffs.
