ROYSE CITY — ROYSE CITY — A long night in Royse City ultimately went against the Tigers softball team on Thursday night.

Royse City's Tori Green drilled a single up the middle to score Kourtney Kelley in the bottom of the 16th as the Lady Bulldogs outlasted the Tigers 1-0 in Game 1 of a Region II-4A Area Round playoff series.

The game lasted 4 hours and 53 minutes.

The teams will come back quickly at 7 p.m Friday in Corsicana for Game 2 of the three-game series.

Betsy Woodall had 13 strikeouts for the Tigers in a gallant effort.

Her counterpart Alicia Pille retired the first 28 batters she faced, 20 of them on strikeouts. Pille had 31 strikeouts.

Kelsie Triplett broke up the perfect game with a solid single up the middle with one out in the top of the 10th. Haylie Barber had a two-out hit but Woodall struck out to end the inning.

Royse City loaded the bases on a leadoff double by Kyla Simmons and two walks in the 11th inning. And with one out, Woodall struck out Tori Green and Brianna Wacyk to keep the game going.
