Dustin Jock pitched a no-hitter and struck out nine along the way as Kerens ripped Martin’s Mill 12-2 on Tuesday. It was the second no-hitter of the season for Jock.
Brent Warren went 2 for 3, scored three times and drove in two runs, and Jeremy Gould went 1 for 3 and drove in three runs. Mitchell Solis went 1 for 1 and drove in two runs, Shelton Sayles went 1 for 2, stole two bases, scored three times and drove in a run and Brett Anderson went 1 for 4, scored once and drove in a run.
Mildred 12, Marlin 1
Mildred had eight hits and took advantage of eight walks to breeze past Marlin on Tuesday and move to 2-1 in District 23-2A. Jordan Harvell had two hits, a walk and three RBIs to pace the Eagles. Allen Knight was 1 for 1 with a double, a walk and three RBIs, and Connor Hill was 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Jase Butler was 1 for 1 with two walks and three runs.
Hill got the win on the mound, striking out three in three innings and allowing a run after three first-inning walks. Collin Linex pitched the final two frames, retiring all six and striking out four. Neither allowed a hit as Marlin fell to 0-3.
Valley Mills 8
Witty Busby delivered a clutch, two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to lift Wortham to the victory as the Bulldogs pulled off their biggest comeback of the season.
They were down 8-5 going into the bottom of the seventh and stormed back to win for the ninth time in their last 10 games. Wortham, which started the season a little slow because of the success of the basketball team, is 9-7 overall.
The Bulldogs were led by Busby, who went 2 for 4 and Steven Hutson, Jordan Lansford, and Trent Williams, who all went 2 for 3. Lansford (2-0) picked up the win, pitching 2 1/3 innings in relief. He struck out two batters.
