Kerens' junior Tavion Hall had the best day of his career as a powerlifter and finished sixth in 181-pound weight class the state on Saturday in Abilene in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association state meet.
Hall had lifted 1,290 pounds at the regional meet to qualify for the state meet, but he eclipsed his personal best by 70 pounds at the state meet.
The competition is based on three lifts — the bench-press, squat and deadlift.
At the state meet, Hall benched 300 pounds, cleared 500 pounds on his squat lift and deadlifted 560 pounds for a total 0f 1,360 pounds.
