The Lady Tigers open up District 16-4A action Friday night with their longest trip of the season to Nacogdoches.
Which is just fine with Corsicana coach Art Prevost. The opponent is a tough one, but with school not back in, the Lady Tigers should be focused, Prevost said.
"We have no distractions," Prevost said. "No school. We don't have to worry about getting home late. Now we have to just go play.
"Focus is 1-0," Prevost said. "Nothing else."
The Lady Tigers went 14-9 in non-district and just won two out of three games at the Coca-Cola DISD Basketball Tournament.
Corsicana also should welcome inside presence Tamera White, who has missed most of the season. That should help against a strong post game for the Lady Dragons (14-8) led by Charity Page, who has an outstanding point guard working with her, E.J. Johnson.
The Lady Dragons have won seven of their last eight games and just won the Doc Edwards Invitational in Bossier City, La., beating Shreveport Byrd 59-33 in the championship game.
