Corsicana’s boys soccer team bounced back from a tough opening weekend at the Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Tournament and defeated Mexia 2-0 on Tuesday to get their first win of the season.
The Tigers (1-3) scored early when Alan Bernal scored one minute into the game off a well-played corner kick and center midfielder Geo Amador scored with about 15 minutes left in the first half to give Corsicana a 2-0 lead.
“It was a very good team win for the boys,’’ said Stan Jones, who coaches the girls and boys teams at Corsicana. “We are now looking forward to the weekend at the Palestine Tourney. I really think we are about to hit our rhythm if we can just finish our opportunities and not let teams stay in the game.’’
