Corsicana’s boys soccer team had a big win over Class 5A DeSoto on Tuesday night. The Tigers, who were playing their seventh game in seven days, beat DeSoto 4-0 to improve to 4-2-1.
“The boys varsity showed a lot of heart and effort by dominating DeSoto to win 4-0,’’ said Corsicana soccer Coach Stan Jones. “This was the varsity's seventh match in 7 days. We really seem like we are beginning to find ourselves as a team. We have two more matches to prepare for district with road games at Waco University and Palestine.’’
Lady Tigers 4, Kaufman 4
The Lady Tigers soccer team went on the road and came back from a 3-1 halftime deficit to tie Kaufman 4-4.
“The girls are playing good soccer and showing a lot of fight,’’ Jones said. “This is the same Kaufman team that won the Sherman Tournament by beating the host 3-1 in the final. We just can't take opponents lightly and have to play all 80 minutes of soccer. Any time our offense scores four goals it was a good game offensively. Our team has to realize this and find a way to pull out victories in matches like this. I am proud of the fight to come back while being down like they were.
“We are excited for the tourney coming up because the girls are rested and had a week off. We have the Duncanville Kickoff Classic this weekend that will help the girls come together more as a team.’’
