Frost in 15-under state softball tournament winner’s bracket finals

Corsicana — The Lady Bears of Frost won twice Thursday and advanced to the winner’s bracket finals of the Texas Teen-Age 15-under state softball tournament, where they are scheduled to meet host West Friday night.

The Lady Bears, now 3-0 in the tournament, beat Alto, 11-4, and Troy, 6-3, Thursday to remain unbeaten. They joined West as the final two unbeatens.

Friday’s game between Frost and West is scheduled for 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the championship game.

Jae Moore got the win in both games, combining for 16 strikeouts and allowing seven hits in 11 innings. The Lady Bears had 20 hits in the two games.

In the win over Alto, Kennah Kennedy, Taylor White and Moore each had two hits. Kennedy and White drove in two runs, and both scored twice. Nicole Arreola had a pair of RBIs, and Madison Revill and Jenna Moore added two runs each.

In the Troy victory, Moore led the offense, going 3 for 4 with a double, three runs and an RBI. Catcher Hillaree Schwartz had two hits, including a triple, scored twice and drove in a run. Karlie Scott had a pair of hits, and Revill went 1 for 2 with two walks and an RBI.
