GC Track & Field: Frost girls, boys win district titles

Corsicana — Frosts' girls and boys teams both won District 19-1A track & field team titles as the Lady Polar Bears ran away from the field with 209 points and the boys won the title with 137 points.

The Lady Polar Bears, who had never won a district track & field title until last year, outscored the next three teams combined. Abbott was second in the eight team-field with 75 points.

Jae Moore led the girls team. She won the 300 hurdles and finished second in the discus, high jump and 800 run and also ran on Frost's winning 4x400 relay team.

Kennah Kennedy won the 100 and finished second in the triple jump and pole vault, and ran on Frost's 4x100 winning relay team and winning 4x400 relay team.

Hillaree Schwartz took fourth in the long jump and third in the 400 and high jump and ran on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams.

Jocelyn Roberts took first in the pole vault.

Maria Suaste finished second in the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and ran on Frost's winning 4x200 relay team. Diana Rios took fourth in the 800 and third in the long jump and ran on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. JoAnna McCreless took second in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

All three of the relay teams took home first place. The 4x100 team and the 4x400 relay team is made up of the same four girls: Kennedy, Moore, Rios and Schwartz and Rios, and the 4x200 team consists of Jennifer Andrews, Kaycee Bowling, Roberts and Suaste.

The Frost boys team was led by Sammy Manrriguez, who won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and also ran on Frost's 4x200 relay team that took second.

Austin Stamper finished second in the shot put and discus and Laton Eastman finished second in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 110 hurdles. Frost had six boys take finish fourth to qualify for the area meet: Tommy Dozier (400), Alex Cruz (200), Isaih Belcher (long jump), Cade Rigamonti (shot put), Tyler Stevenson (triple jump) and Raymundo Hernandez (discus).

Frost's three relay teams all finished second and advance to the are meet. The 4x100 team is made up of Belcher, Colton Clayton, Kobe Hailey and Robert Worley. The 4x200 team has Belcher, Manrriguez, Woody Woods and Worley, and the 4x400 team consists of Clayton, Dozier, Hiler and Dalton McGill.

    More than 100 of her friends, family members and fans showed up at the Corsicana YMCA on Saturday to celebrate the national title and be on hand for a drawing for an autographed New Orleans Saints football jersey from David Hawthorne, a star defensive lineman for the Saints and Kaylana's uncle
