CHS Baseball: Lindale haunts Tigers again with critical 4-0 win

Corsicana — Lindale has been poison to Corsicana all year.

The Eagles won a bizarre game in Lindale to keep the Tigers out of the football playoffs and ruined the boys basketball season with two gut-wrenching wins in the final week of the season.

They did it again Tuesday, beating the Tigers 4-0 at Price Field to take over second place in the District 16-4A race.

Lindale (6-2) had one big inning to hand Corsicana (5-3) its second loss in a row.

Trevor Nolen was sailing along with a one-hitter with two outs in the fifth when a fly ball to right that could have ended the inning turned into a double.

The Eagles had three straight hits, a walk and another hit to bring in four runs for Sam Sitton, who went the distance to beat the Tigers again (he beat them 6-3 in Lindale), giving up three hits while striking out seven and allowing one walk.

The key blow came on back-to-back two out singles from Jon French and Ryan Dudley, who drove in two runs, a passed ball that scored a run and a clutch RBI single by  Kyle Bond that made it 4-0.

Corsicana’s Layton Wolver  singled twice but was stranded at third in the fist and stranded at second in the third.

Bobby Lopez hit a hard singe to left and was left at second in the fourth as Sitton retired 13 of the final 14 after Lopez’s hit.

Nolen gave up five hits over five innings and struck out five while walking two. he also hit a batter.

Corbin Hall, Preston Hill and Donavan Fields, who retured the final Eagle, all itched in relief, allowing just one hit.
