Navarro Soccer: Bulldogs knock off Monroe to win seventh in a row

Rochester —      Navarro’s women’s soccer team won a huge game on the road Friday, beating previously ranked Monroe in Rochester, N.Y. 1-0.

    The Lady Bulldogs, who are ranked No. 4 in the nation, are on a  two-day road trip and play Rhode Island at 1 p.m. on Saturday in Rochester.

    They got off to a fast start by shutting out Monroe. Goalkeeper Kenia Medina made four saves in recording her fourth shutout in the last five games. The Lady Bulldogs have not been scored on since they beat No. 6 Tyler, 3-2, in Tyler.

    Navarro scored at the 66:18 point of the game on Friday when Trudi Carter dropped in her team-leading ninth goal of the season with an assist from JoAnna Nigro and Amanda Olson.

    Friday’s win was the seventh in a row for Navarro, which is 9-2 for the season and has climbed from No. 13 to No, 4 in the NJCAA poll during the winning streak.
