They’ve got high expectations for the volleyball team at Kerens this season, and the Lady Bobcats started the season on the right note Tuesday, sweeping a pair of matches against Scurry-Rosser and Italy at Italy, where Kerens had to play back-to-back in the three-team dual match format.
Kerens beat Scurry-Rosser, 25-12, 25-16, 25-10, and then swept past Italy, 25-23, 25-23, 25-13 to start the season at 2-0.
Taylor Ames had 11 assists, two kills and three blocks and Hannah Hall had four assists, one kill and one block to set the tone for Kerens. Marqueshia Kelly led the way at the net with seven kills and two blocks and Breanna Wells had five kills and three blocks. Cambree Betts had three kills and two digs and Emmanuella Armant had two kills for Kerens.
Kerens plays at Malakoff on Friday.
Frost loses to Abbott in four games in season opener
Jae Moore, who was the Daily Sun’s All-Golden Circle Newcomer of the Year last season as a freshman, had seven kills, four aces and a block to start the season. Heather Montgomery had five aces and two kills while Kaycee Bowling led the team with eight assists and three digs, but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Polar Bears lost to Abbott on the road Tuesday night, 13-25, 25-11. 17-25, 19-25. Madison Revill also had a big night with three kills, three digs and an ace, and Morgan Elmore had three kills, two aces and was 100 percent on serving.
Frost plays in the Dawson Tournament on Thursday and Saturday.
