Corsicana — Frost football and basketball coach Eric Blenden is leaving Frost.
Blenden, who helped turn both the football and basketball programs around at Frost High School, is leaving to become the football coach and Athletic Director at Valley Mills High School.
"It was a difficult decision to leave Frost,'' Blenden said. "I appreciate my time here and the student-athletes who played for me and the support of the community and the school.''
Blenden went 18-8 and 4-2 in the playoffs in his three years as Frost's football coach, and led the Polar Bears to the regional finals in 2012.
He was the All-Golden Circle Coach of the Year in 2012-13 and was Texas Football Magazine's Class 1A Coach of the Year in 2012-13.
He went 83-30 and won three district basketball titles in his four years as the school's boys basketball coach.
"It's moving up a classification and it's coaching at a place that is 10 miles from the house where I grew up in all my life,'' Blenden said of his move to Valley Mills. "It's going home, and it was just time to move on. It's a great opportunity for me and my family.''
