Corsicana — The Tigers took care of business Friday night at Price Field.

They finished off a 9-1 district season, tying them with Whitehouse for the 16-4A title. The No. 6 Tigers also kept their momentum going as they head into the playoffs. Most of all, they were very business like in Friday's final regular season game.

Trevor Nolen allowed just two hits in a complete game and the Tigers executed once again on offense for a 7-1 victory over Jacksonville on Friday night.

Corsicana (25-5-1) will play Whitehouse at 1 p.m. Saturday at Rockwall-Heath in a game that will decide the No. 1 playoff seed in 16-4A.

The Tigers would like a repeat of Friday night's game. They took advantage of six walks with three of them scoring. They scored runs on wild pitches, a safety squeeze and a sacrifice fly. They also hit the ball to the opposite field as Jacksonville starter Ruston Diers tried to stay away from right-handed hitters.

The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Bobby Lopez started the inning with single to right field. He moved to second and third on wild pitches and scored when Jacksonville catcher Mason Smith's throw sailed into left field. Trevor Nolen later walked and scored on a single to right field by Ben Goodrich.

The Tigers scoed three more runs in third third inning. Holden Grounds started the inning with a double to right field and Hunter Denbow followed with an RBI double to right. Denbow then moved to third and scored on safety squeeze by Lopez. The Tigers made it 5-0 when Lopez scored on a balk.

Corsicana scored two more runs in the sixth inning. Aaron Cantu walked and moved up to third base on a throwing error and a wild pitch. Reid Folmar then walked on a full count and stole second base. Brady Harlan had a sacrifice fly and Grounds added an RBI single.

That was more than enough for Nolen, who didn't allow a hit until the third inning. He had eight strikeouts and walked only one, again dominating the strike zone.

"I feel like I can throw all of my pitches for strikes," Nolen said.

He took advantage of exceptional defense, including quality plays in the outfield by Zane Otten and Cantu and an exceptional running catch on a flare by Denbow.

On Friday night, it was more of the same for a Tigers team riding a seven-game winning streak.
