GC Track: Frost girls win regional title, boys third

Corsicana — Both the Frost girls and boys will be well-represented at the state track meet May 10-11 in Austin. The Lady Bears won last week’s regional meet, while the boys came in third.

Frost had 98 points to outpace Gorman’s 70 on the girls side. The Polar Bears had 56 points, finishing just behind Gordon (70) and Cumby Miller Grove (60). The top two places in each individual competition advanced to state, but third place finishers could advance if their results are tops among the other third-place finishers in the other three regions.

    The Eagles swept through the Texas Teenage Baseball 14-U district tournament this week at Mildred, where Mildred outscored three opponents 39-2.

     LeBron James' latest decision is in: He's returning to Cleveland.Ending a saga that had the NBA virtually at a standstill while he made up his mind, James told Sports Illustrated for a story published Friday that he's decided to go home. His decision reverses the move he made when he left the Cavaliers for Miami four years ago, and a twist that would have seemed unfathomable after the venomous fallout when he joined the Heat.

  • CHS Football: Season ticket renewals begin this week

     Corsicana Tiger football fans can begin renewing their season tickets this week for the 2014 season.
    Current ticket subscribers can stop by the Athletics Office at Tiger Stadium on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from  8 a.m. until 3 p.m. until July 24 to renew tickets.

    She’s at it again.
    Little Jayda Lunsford went to the Junior Olympics last year and finished seventh in the nation in the long jump.
    Now she’s going back.
    Jayda, who is only 8 and won’t be 9 until July 22, is competing in the 10-and-under competition this year, but that hasn’t stopped her.

    The Blooming Grove Xtreme-Reloaded 12-Under girls softball team swept its way through the Distrit 8-12-U Tournament, outscoring four opponents by 54 runs.

    If there was any doubt about Mildred's chances to make a run at repeating as the Texas Teenage Baseball 14-Under state champs, just take a look at the team's first game in the district tournament.
    The Eagles ripped a good Frost team 16-1 in 4 ½ innings at Mildred on Tuesday to advance to Wednesday's third-round game against the Frankston Indians.
