Connor Hill hit a 3 with two seconds left to lift Mildred to a 65-64 win over Blooming Grove in a key District 23-2A boys game on Friday night in the Mildred gym, where the Eagles knocked off the Lions, who had been unbeaten in the district.
Hill finished with 23 points to lead Mildred and Jase Butler followed with 13. Draylon Sterling (9), Mikey Muncey (8), Russell Holden (5) Jordan Harvell (5) and Will Burnham (4) also scored for the Eagles.
Daniel Pelzel led Blooming Grove with 22 points and Juanya Pyburn scored 16 for the Lions. Rowdy Barlow (7), Tyler Lewis (6), Dalton Blake (6), Tyler Ellis (2) and Tyler Baumgartner (2) also scored for Blooming Grove.
Mildred Lady Eagles 46, Blooming Grove 23
The Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 in the District 23-2A race with the win at Mildred, where Shelby Adamson pulled down 22 rebounds, including nine on the offensive end to dominate inside.
Allison Hierholzer led the scoring with 15 points. Morgan McCreary had 10 points and seven rebounds, and Maddie Moore had eight points for Mildred (11-9 overall). Adamson, Callie Bland, and Michelle Heins all had four points each.
