GC Softball: Tapley, Mildred tops Riesel 12-2

The Mildred Lady Eagles improved to 2-0 in district with a 12-2 victory over the Riesel Lady Indians.

Joanna Tapley picked up the victory on the mound for the Eagles. She gave up one hit and struck out five in six innings of work.

Olivia Farmer and Tapley each had two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Eagles. Callie Bland had a hit and two RBIs.

Teague 9, Blooming Grove 1: Teague took advantage of six hits and five Blooming Grove errors Tuesday night for a 9-1 victory in a battle of unbeaten teams in District 23-2A softball action.

All of Teague's runs were unearned. Falcon Thompson pitched all six innings for BG. She had six strikeouts and walked five.

Lexi Goodwin scored Blooming Grove's only run. She laid down a bunt and reached second on an error. She then took third on a wild pitch and crossed home plate on an error. Steely Southard had BG's only hit.

The Lady Lions resume action Thursday as they host Buffalo. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. in Blooming Grove.
