Corsicana — Senior outfielder Lindsay Shuart scored on a Teague error in the bottom of the seventh to lead Blooming Grove to a 4-3 win, putting the Lady Lions in position to advance to the playoffs.
Shuart led the inning off with a bunt single, stole second and went to third on Sidney Horner's single to left. Steely Southard walked to load the bases and then Falcon Thompson flied to right. The throw home got past the catcher, allowing Shuart to cross home plate for the winning run.
Thompson earned the win on the mound for Blooming Grove. In seven innings of work, she gave up two earned runs on five hits with 13 strikeouts. She also had an RBI-single.
Senior second baseman Hannah Chaffin led the Lady Lions' offense going 2 for 3 and scoring a run. Horner was also 2 for 3 with a stolen base.
Haven Cofer had a two-run double for Blooming Grove. Southard had a single and a run scored, and Lauren Miller also scored for the Lady Lions.Mildred 15, Riesel 4
Mildred 15, Riesel 4: The Mildred Lady Eagles (8-0) continued their run through District 23-2A with a 15-4 five inning victory over the visiting Riesel Lady Indians on Friday
Mildred scored three runs in the first inning including a solo homerun by Joanna Tapley. Riesel tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the second inning but Mildred answered with five runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Maddie Moore had a two RBI single and Aubyn Turner and Olivia Farmer had back to back RBI doubles. Tapley followed with an RBI single to plate Farmer for the final run of the inning.
The Lady Eagles added to their lead in the third and fourth innings on RBI hits by Savannah Pritchett, Shelby Adamson, and Turner. Abbie Burnham and Callie Bland also collected hits in the game for the Lady Eagles.
